Writer's Quest :: An effort to bring readers and writers together

"The writer appeals to that part of our being which is not dependent on wisdom; to that in us which is a gift and not an acquisition - and therefore more permanently enduring. He speaks to our capacity for delight and wonder, to the sense of mystery, which surrounds our lives. To our sense of pity, beauty and pain." - Joseph Conrad

Why Writer's Quest ?

This site is a culmination of an effort to bring readers and writers together; particularly Indian writers in English.

The talent to narrate a story lies in all of us, we just have to reach and connect within for it to come surging out. When I discovered that, the thrill of creation was magical! As the words came pouring out, one wanted to reach out to a larger audience. Then began the painful hunt for publishers. There are so many of them but they all seem to be overloaded with aspiring writers inundating them with their work. It appeared that one would have to wait endlessly for that magical audience who would read them, react to and enjoy them. Laugh or cry and in a way bond with the writer.

So I address this page to all the readers who would delight in reading and maybe in turn write some more wonderful tales so that the enchanting world of make-believe never ends.

- Chandra Ghosh Jain
"Her collections of short stories are based on the supernatural and the uncanny. The author delves into the subconscious mind and inner most desires of the people. Some of the stories send a chill down the spine while some others tickle the imagination of the reader. These stories, though entertaining, also have a deeper meaning and are thought provoking. Stress, corruption, materialism and pollution are highlighted. The author plays beautifully with her words. She plunges into the metaphysical realm in 'The Face' and the 'The Jewel Thief'. Dragon's Day out emphasises the sorry state of today's world. It exposes the grim realities of environment pollution and societal corruption, while Kaalkunj envisages a new home, planet Nabhanya for mankind after the destruction of the earth due to global warming."

"Chandra is a strong, talented writer. She has some very interesting and vivid stories to tell, stories that give a perspective on life in India that many of us in the United States and perhaps around the world do not also have access to. Her prose reads well and when her stories work, I, as a reader, got very swept up in them. Her dialogue is crisp and sharp and she writes about some very universal themes, like father and son conflicts, the struggles of women in modern society, and mother and daughter relationships. These are themes that every reader will recognize even if the stories are set in India."
